Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the blazing fires in and around Cape Town. Being in the industry I can only imagine the trauma of relocating guests to safety, re-arranging wedding days and dates. We specially send our thoughts to our friends at Cape Point Vineyards who lost about 10% of their vineyards and maybe 20% of their harvest. Thankfully there was no structural damage to the restaurant and wedding venue.
The beautiful Tintswalo Atlantic, which has been on my bucket list for a long time, wasn’t as fortunate with their hotel and venue 80% destroyed. I can only admire Managing Director Michelle du Plessis for her fighting spirit: “We hope to rebuild by the end of the year and will continue marketing and promoting Tintswalo Atlantic until it is relaunched in December 2015.” In addition they will commemorate the 2nd of March annually, by hosting a charity event where all proceeds will go to the organisations who assisted them in the fire: City of Cape Town Emergency Services, NSRI, The Volunteer Wildfire Services and The Houtbay Community.
