There’s nothing better than having your best friend by your side anytime…anywhere especially on National Dog Day! This coming Sunday, (26 August) is the perfect opportunity to celebrate dogs of all walks of life. We believe every day is an opportunity to celebrate our canine friends – whether it is the family dogs or dogs that work selflessly to save lives that keep us safe and bring comfort.
On a daily basis dogs put their lives on the line for us, for their law enforcement partners, for their blind companions, for the disabled, for our safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage.
There are a number of different ways to celebrate this day. Some people choose to use this day to spend more time with their dog and to buy him/her new toys or sweaters. Other people take time to adopt a dog from a shelter whereas others volunteer their time and money to various dog welfare organisations. In our opinion, celebrating National Dog Day can be as easy as giving your four-legged friend a big hug and kiss, taking them for as walk and snuggling with them once the day is done. But for those who want to take their love and appreciation to another level, we have just the place for you to go and celebrate!
If you would rather stay at home than leave the four legged members of your family behind, why not bring them along to Warthogs Bush Camp, in Magaliesburg. A relaxing one hour drive through Hekpoort brings you to Warthogs Bush Camp where an unpretentious little lodge welcomes you. Ten chalets, 6 two-man tents and 4 new exclusive caravan sites with their own ablution, a bush lapa, rock pool and bush pub makes a relaxing retreat from city life. Sit around the bonfire at night with your furry friend sleeping next to you, the fire crackling away
A special pet welcome awaits all breeds of socialised and house-trained dogs. The Camp, tucked away in the Magalies Meander lends itself to action-packed days which you can enjoy with your pets that love to explore and are used to freedom.
Big 5 game drives and Spa treatments are available from their sister property, Askari Game Lodge & Spa just 2km down the road. Warthogs itself has a selection of Kudu, Blesbok, Rooihartebees and, of course, warthogs.
