By becoming part of the AA Quality Assured Accommodation Programme, Warthogs Bush Camp is now part of an internationally recognised and trusted brand, one that guarantees integrity and transparency.

Warthogs Bush Camp was acquired by the Guvon Hotels & Spas group mid 2016 and is 2km away from Askari Game Lodge & Spa, the Big 5 property in the portfolio. This small bush lodge is tucked away in the Magalies Meander, an hour’s drive from both Johannesburg and Pretoria,  and is known for bush hospitality and simplicity. Enjoy a hearty, unpretentious brunch which includes pap, wors and eggs, to dinner themes around braai menus, spit braais and potjiekos recipes. Although bed and breakfast is available, many guests opt for the self-catering stays.

A range of outdoor activities from walking trails, to mountain biking and 4×4 tracking (upon prior arrangement) are available. Kids will enjoy the pool and are encouraged to bring their mountain bikes for a bit of roughing it in the countryside. A large multi-purpose Bush Lapa venue caters for up to 120 people when seated. It’s drop down canvas sides creates a cozy atmosphere even in winter, within this spacious thatch structure.

Guests stay over in ten individual chalets which all have small wooden decks and are decorated in earthy tones, all set within a tree canopy. The bathroom with its outside shower is a real treat and brings guests just a touch closer to nature.

Recent upgrades to the camp included the repainting of the exterior, upgrading the pool, addition of braai facilities, the addition of a boma area and upgrades to the function venue and entertainment area. New linen and self-catering items have been put in place to enhance the guest experience.

A number of camping sites and ablution blocks are being added at the moment and upgrades of the mountain top picnic site will soon be completed.

CLEVER IDEAS FOR PET-FRIENDLY WEDDING DECOR AT WARTHOGS BUSH CAMP.

There are some insanely cute and clever ideas when it comes to pet-friendly weddings. Every single time I pin new images to our fabulous Pinterest board, I have a #feelgoodfriday. (Yes, I do know its only Tuesday today!)

Part of the fun of having a pet-friendly wedding at Warthog Bush Camp is the many ways which the theme can be rolled out and incorporated  into your wedding:

NEED SOME INSPIRATION?   4 SURE WAYS OF HAVING WOOFING GOOD WEDDING

1 – Make your table numbers dog-centric. Use all those cute puppy photos and mad moments for personalised table numbers.

2 – No cake is complete without a memorable cake topper. Make yours one to remember with  a fun figurine of your favourite pet.

3 – In the spirit of giving, share the love with a wedding favour to take home. Your guests’ furry friends would be most impressed. It certainly beats another engraved wine glass which will just gather dust on the guests’ shelf.

4 – Keeping it real with wedding decor at a Bush camp is a must-do. Ambrosia Events did this wonderful rustic, proudly South African set up for us at Warthogs which we love to bits. Let the creative Christina Roussetis in on your pet-friendly wedding ideas:

Set just 2km from Askari Game Lodge & Spa in Magaliesburg,  Warthogs Bush Camp  is a wonderful venue for bush-weddings as they are quite happy to tailor-make any event to suit your requirements. If bush hospitality and simplicity is your thing, you would love the unpretentious but hearty brunch on offer which includes pap, wors and eggs, to dinner themes around braai menus, spit braais and potjiekos recipes.

“As I approached the venue, my creative mind kicked into high gear”, says Christa Badenhorst, Group Marketing Manager of Guvon Hotels & Spas. “The main reception area is an impressive thatch dome and this is the ideal spot to welcome your wedding guests with a special wedding themed cocktail and small canapes or snacks.”

“I can imagine lining the wooden deck and wooden walkways which meander along the rock pool area with  floating white Chinese lanterns,” Badenhorst continues. “We recommend that camp exclusivity is taken for weddings – this opens up a world of possibilities for your wedding weekend. Aside from having a free hand in decorating the venue to you hearts delight, wedding guests can enjoy a range of outdoor activities from walking trails, to mountain biking and 4×4 tracking (upon prior arrangement). Kiddies will enjoy the rock pool, table tennis and volleyball and are encouraged to bring their mountain bikes for a bit of roughing it in the countryside.”
